Uji Handoko Eko Saputra a.k.a Hahan(born in Kebumen, 1983) works influenced by youth culture and comics in which he develops characters that become metaphors for his works. He uses satire and exaggerated characters to make commentaries on issues in a subtle way. His recent works explores themes of experience within the global art market from the perspective of an emerging artist.

 

Hahan is the founding members of Ace House Collective, an artist collective founded in Yogyakarta, 2011. Their work practice is based on creative approach through youth-pop culture, both in theory and practice, contextually and conceptually, as well as finding possibilities in visual art perspectives. They have been exhibited their project in Seoul Museum of Art, South Korea and participated in Jakarta Biennale in 2013. Hahan is also the founding members of Punkasila, an artist collective formed by Danius Kesminas in 2005. They have played live shows in Yogyakarta and several cities in Indonesia, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Darwin. Punkasila also performed at the 10th Biennale of Havana, Cuba in 2009 and Mona Foma, Tazmania, Australia in 2014.

 

Hahan graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, major in Printmaking at the Indonesia Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Indonesia and abroad, such as NGV TRIENNIAL 1st 2017 Melbourne and APT 7th 2012 Brisbane. His works have been collected by several art museums like Queensland Art Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) Brisbane, Australia and National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) Melbourne, Australia. He lives and works in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
